I created a book design using InDesign with a spine using illustration I created since I started university. I read up on grid and followed a 3 column grid structure layout.

Research and Inspiration – looking at a variety of layouts
Creating thumbnails of the design and an initial design, which I later changed. I was keen to use a design for the book cover called Beethoven design, which I found in one of my grid layout books, but I found it difficult to match to a grid and design on Indesign so I moved on from that idea.

The images below were my inspiration for my final book design. I really liked the layout out of this book/brochure I had from a street and surf book in South West back in 2005.
I designed the second design below with chalk duster typeface, which really didn’t work or give a professional body text and header, so I changed to Helvetica, which is my final design at the top of this post.
